Tomoko Furusawa jewellery

Designer Tomoko Furusawa has a long history in the jewellery design business. She started out studying art history at university. She then took her studies and got a position as a chief buyer for fashion accessory boutiques in Tokyo. Tomoko Furusawa did this for several years before she followed her love and fascination with jewellery design to her true calling, jewellery design. In 1998 Tomoko Furusawa studied at the Hiko Mizuno College of Jewellery in Tokyo. Once finished with these studies, she moved to Antwerp where she studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts. In 2002 Tomoko Furusawa graduated with her Master’s degree in Jewellery Design and Silversmith. That same year she established her own collection. Before beginning her own collection, Tomoko Furusawa had hands-on jewellery design experience when she worked for Wouters & Hendrix. She was responsible for the jewellery designs of Angelo Figus’s Spring/Summer 2002 collection. Tomoko Furusawa jewellery is made out of sterling silver usually combined with semi precious stones, pearls and fabrics. Each piece is handcrafted which guarantees that no two Tomoko Furusawa pieces of jewellery are identical. Her jewellery tends to be romantic, poetic and whimsical. One collection carries the Ice Bird, a mix of chains, ribbons, pearls, adorned with glass drop pendants and brass or silver birds.
